Job Description

Lead Group has partnered with a leading manufacturer of agricultural and farming equipment in Wagga Wagga, NSW to find a fast thinking and experienced Operations Manager. This is a key leadership role that involves overseeing the manufacturing and procurement processes within a busy workshop environment. You will be responsible for driving efficiency, improving current processes, and implementing new systems.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day operations across manufacturing and procurement, ensuring smooth workflow and timely project completion.
  • Manage a diverse team of 35 workers, including painters, blasters, fitters, engineers, and general workshop hands, with a total team size of 53.
  • Lead and mentor the Procurement Manager and Manufacturing Manager, providing guidance and support to optimise their functions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement new systems to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to develop strategies for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Manage procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and timely availability of materials.
  • Maintain a strong focus on quality assurance, ensuring all products meet the required standards.
  • Solve complex problems that arise in the manufacturing process, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across the workshop.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in workshop management, with a strong background in manufacturing and procurement.
  • Experience in the manufacturing of agricultural or farming equipment is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and implement effective solutions.
  • Experience in logistics and supply chain management is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and implement new systems.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring teams.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work closely with senior management and report directly to the General Manager.
